Background/experience of leadership in subject/area of expertise: 

Since my accreditation as a Maths Specialist Teacher in 2014, I have worked passionately to develop the teaching and learning of Maths. I spent 6 years as Maths lead at St Thomas Primary, where I worked to introduce the new National Curriculum and the implementation of a bespoke assessment system, support staff with their subject knowledge through CPD training sessions, deliver team teaching and mentoring cycles, and targeted and personalised support to both staff and children. All with the aim of developing a Mastery approach towards Maths supporting the children to secure a deeper conceptual understanding.

More recently, I have moved to Tower Road Academy, where I am now working with staff to develop our understanding of Teaching for Mastery, with an emphasis on reasoning and mathematical talk.

Previously, I have also held roles as Year Group Leader, Lower Key Stage Two Phase Leader and NQT mentor, and am currently taking part in a Teacher Research Group with the NCTEM Maths Hub.

Personal ambition statement for SLE deployment:

Throughout my years as a leader, I have always sought to develop a leadership approach which inspires others. I have been driven by the motivation to work collaboratively with my peers to share skills, inspire risk taking, embed new practices and develop a love of Maths, all with the goal of improving outcomes for children.

As an SLE, I am keen to support the development of Maths across schools through the collaborative sharing of expertise and excellent teaching practice.
