Background/experience of leadership in subject/area of expertise: (max 300 words)
Since completing my GTP in 2003, I have gained a wealth of experience across both key stages; teaching in all year groups with the exception of EYFS. I have been fortunate to lead school improvement initiatives from an early stage in my career due to initially working in a small rural school, taking the lead on PSHE, Healthy School’s accreditation, English subject leader and in 2007; I became a senior leader with responsibility for Teaching and Learning across the whole school. Being highly motivated to support others and make a difference, I was then lucky enough to move to a large town school and join the team as Assistant Head. During this time, I worked collaboratively with colleagues, provided support, mentoring, coaching and CPD in order to help the school move from difficulty to an Ofsted judgement of Outstanding. It was this experience, which equipped me with a vast array of leadership strategies, systems and procedures for school improvement, which I can still draw upon today.
My leadership journey has continued giving me the opportunity to refine and apply my systems and strategies in my current role as Headteacher at Wyberton. Since joining this school in 2012, I have been instrumental in leading change by ensuring rigorous monitoring and evaluation, implementation and use of effective assessment principles, managing pupil premium, raising standards, particularly in reading and maths and leading the development of a curriculum that inspires and motivates our children to love learning and be the very best they can.
As a Local Leader of Education (LLE) I have been extremely fortunate to work with a number of schools across Lincolnshire with the delivery and implementation of LAMP (raising attainment in maths) and LEAP (raising attainment in English) programmes, and other schools with more bespoke support for school improvement. As a proactive yet reflective leader I feel equipped to support colleagues with their school improvement journeys providing not just practical, solution focused guidance, often drawn from EEF research-based pedagogies but also acting as a critical friend to like-minded leaders across the County.
I am highly motivated and passionate about making a difference!
Personal ambition statement for LLE deployment: (150 words)
My personal ambition is to work with like-minded leaders in order to build a community of expertise for current and future NQTs, school leaders and classroom-based educators; working collaboratively, this community will provide support, critical thinking and opportunities for all educators to develop and succeed within a supportive environment.
Personally, leading school improvement at any level and being able to share my expertise with others is a goal that I wish to fulfil in order that it has a positive impact on the children of our future!
