A Pupil Premium Review looks at how schools spend their pupil premium funding. The purpose of the review is to improve a school’s pupil premium strategy, so that they spend the funding on approaches shown to be effective in improving the achievement of disadvantaged pupils.
Greater impact with Pupil Premium funding
Since their introduction in 2013, pupil premium reviews have helped hundreds of schools to refine their work with disadvantaged pupils and spend the pupil premium more effectively. Good pupil premium reviews are normally associated with improved pupil outcomes.
Our Pupil Premium Reviews are a unique opportunity to understand the potential impact of effective spending on the most vulnerable children.
The Pupil Premium Review will be bespoke to each setting but will comprise of a full review, in-depth report and presentation of findings and recommendations across all areas of Pupil Premium activity, all designed to fully evaluate and improve your schools current spend and impact.
Pupil Premium Reviews are quality assured and based upon both Ofsted expectation and outstanding professional practice.
How to commission a review
You can commission a review at any time if you want to improve your school’s pupil premium strategy. All schools should consider whether they could benefit from the fresh perspective of an experienced school leader to help them try new approaches or improve current provision to help raise the attainment of their disadvantaged pupils.
The time required
The length of time required will be dependent upon the size of the school; we would estimate that most reviews would take between 1 and 4 days, including initial consultation, review of documentation, a day’s review, follow up report and action planning.
How to budget for a review
You can pay for the review, and any subsequent follow-up or support, using your pupil premium funding or any other part of your school’s budget. The cost of a Pupil Premium Review for your school will be £450 per day +VAT
